• Badminton Horse Trials are celebrating their 70th anniversary event this year 
• First event was held in 1949 and it was first shown on TV in 1956. 
• Mitsubish Motors have been sponsoring the event since 1992 
• The prize money in 1949 was £150 for the winner, in 2018 it was £100,000
• One of only 6 annual five star events, together with the Rolex Kentucky Three day + Burghley Horse Trials. 

• Badminton, with Kentucky and Burghley forms the Rolex Grand Slam for Eventing. Only two people have ever won the Grand Slam Pippa Funnell in 2003 and Michael Jung in 2016
• Cross Country day attracts crowds of over 250,000 to come and watch
• The Event has been cancelled on four occasions due to bad weather in 1966,1975,1987 and 2012
