Goals For 2019 With Jessica Storrar
Hello everyone! I can’t believe the start of the season is only a few weeks away?! How did that happen? I swear it was only Christmas last week? Our first run is going to be at pontispool in the open novice on the 17th march. So the countdown is well and truly on we’re only 3 and a half weeks away! Exciting!
In my last blog I think I mentioned I was planning to register hector BS this year to help with our showjumping pre event season. Well, that plan went a bit out of the window as the bank balance just kept saying no! But, I have stuck to my guns with training and have had weekly jump sessions with my coach Joe Macdonald. Today, we went to Rectory Farm for the Eventer showjumping clear round. Hector put in a foot perfect performance in the 1.10m so I’m pretty sure all the training is really paying off! He feels even better now in this phase than he was at the end of last season so I’m really happy!
Tutti frutti the supercob is still being super! He’s been out at various unaffiliated Eventer challenges and showjumping. He’s also going to have a crack at team chasing in April! It will be a first for me too so that’s really exciting!
My plan for the season is fairly open ended at the moment. I know everyone always says you’re supposed to have a goal to aim for, and I do have a long term goal (to complete a 2* - now 3* - don’t get me started on all the reclassifications!) But I like to get into the swing of things before making any solid plans. I think sometimes having a plan can also add a lot of stress if things don’t go to that particular plan.. and with horses when do they ever?!?
On top of all this pre season prep and event planning I’m trying to find time to plan my wedding which is also happening this summer! And no, hector will not be making an appearance!!
Speak to you all soon! Best of luck for first events of the year!
